A simple yet elegant bracelet featuring a Sterling Silver replica of the annual Half Shekel Silver coin that was used as tribute money in the time of the second temple.
This coin type was minted in the second year of the First Jewish Revolt, dated 67 A.D, by Zealot faction in Judea in an attempt to restore independence from the Roman empire.
The coin features a chalice on one side with the year of the revolt above- year two, surrounded by the ancient Hebrew inscription “Shekel of Israel.” Three budding pomegranates are featured on the reverse, with the inscription “Jerusalem the Holy.”
The coin was widely circulated in the time of Jesus, and is probably the piece of silver from St. Peter's fish miracle:
"......take up the fish...and thou shalt find a piece of silver..." (Mt 17:27)
The bracelet is made of a Sterling Silver links chain with a toggle clasp, and is oxidized to highlight details of coin and create an elegant contrast.
